give me all your words

by amy sharp

once I was with a man who spoke Greek
and I would tell him to
just whisper in my ear
anything I would say
tell me the mundane world
and he would recite his grocery list
the details of how to change the oil in his scooter
sugar
coffee
honey
let's go to the beach and take off our clothes
my mind would hear the hard sounds and drop away
and later I would write down the way I felt

and I still want this all the time
push me down and tell me things
slowly like a lesson
give me all of your words
it's what I want
all of them
lined up
like little bombs
that are translated
inside of me
that make me explode
