a poem a day for a year #107

by Amy Turn Sharp

I never trusted
myself around you

alcoholics
pyromaniacs
egomaniacs
liars
tinkers
dreamers
saints
junkies
robbers

all the problem people
walking down the road
flying banners
wearing sandwich boards
mine reads
love addiction
weak heart
dumb girl

I fall in line
parades for the weary
but
you

I never trusted
myself around you
