a poem a day for a year #41

by Amy Turn Sharp

The space between us is like

a power ballad from the 80's

just like Whitesnake wanted to convey

particularly powerful messages across sweat filled stadiums

I shout across the room

with words that fly straight like arrows

loaded points of light

do they pierce your heart

can you hear them in your consciousness

when you go about your day

like a song in your mouth

a humming that comes out

like elevator music

that just won't evaporate
