a poem a day for a year #288

by Amy Turn Sharp

The best advice I can give you is to run straight into trouble. Gather your rosebuds by the bushel basket. Be ready for adventure. Tilt your head more. Swim naked. Don't wait or worry about love. Get as much as you can from loads of people. Be bold with your words. Your body. Your mind. Know what it's like to be heartbroken and go ahead and break someone else's heart too. It's just what happens. Tango with someone. Play with fire. Read the classics. Be alone. Command the room with a good story. The best stories are the ones that really happened and make you look a bit nutty. Who cares. Know what the fuck is up. Have a favorite song. Have comfort. Kiss people who need kisses. Teach others. Give it all away.
